The objective of political parties is to win elections. Any political party who loses a general election because of internal disputes arising from the outcome of primary elections was not in the first place prepared to win. All the parties that participated in the 2026 political party primaries in Nigeria in preparation for 2027 general elections had their internal democracies and structures sorely tested and badly bruised. The opposition for one is in much need to up their game if the desire to win the general election is a serious objective for them.

Whereas foremost in opposition are, Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC’s presidential flag bearer H. E Peter Obi, his running mate H.E Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Africa Democratic Congress ADC’s presidential candidate, H. E Atiku Abubakar, his running mate H.E Rotimi Amechi, the other candidates in opposition formation cannot be said to be less important. They are as important and valid as any other. It is therefore important for the opposition to come together into a coherent unified coalition and present a united front and a charismatic candidate, that they all can win election with and share leadership roles in the government. This is better than losing the election by dividing and fragmenting their vote.

The Obidients, Kwankwasiyya, Aticulated, Amechi followers, and all the opposition parties joined together, in a positive cooperation will not work much to win against a very unpopular ruling party as it stands presently.
